Peer CounselingTo live independently successfully, it is vital to have self-confidence and learn how  to cope with being “out there” in society, as being constantly viewed as “different.”  Our Disability Resource Specialists will assist you with helping to develop Independent Living Skills and support you with personal issues. Learning to cope with life's challenges is vital to live independently successfully.   Typical areas of focus can include: family issues, being a person living with a disability, sexual identification, how to be confident in social and business situations and thrive living in the community.

    Gricelda is Bilingual with Spanish as her second language.  Gricelda provides services such as: Advocacy, Community Outreach, Information & Referrals, Peer Counseling, options counseling, and independent living Services. She has experience with children with special needs and has 7 years of costumer services, housing applications, legal immigration service and 3 years of medical administration.

    Lauren graduated from Salem State University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work. She has experience working with the Homeless community around the North Shore and Boston. She specializes in veterans’ benefits and services, as well as community resources.

    About

    As a Disability Resource Specialist, Marcia provides information and referrals, individual Independent Living skill development guidance, peer counseling support and self and community advocacy. As an Options Counselor, Marcia can guide Consumers who are in nursing homes and want to move back into the community or Consumers who are at risk of Nursing Home placement, explore their options and identify services and supports to be successful. Marcia is developing skills to be part of the Community Access Advocacy Team, local transportation and the Low Income Housing Workshop.

Lauren has a passion for helping others and has many years of experience in the education and human services fields. Prior to this, Lauren spent the last 10+ years specifically in the special education field in the public school systems.

    Joshua is a Disability Resource Specialist who provides various services including information and referral and Options Counseling. He also assists in longer term services like Self-Advocacy, Peer Support, Service Coordination, and Skills Training. Joshua also helps to maintain the social media presence of the Disability Resource Center. He has enjoyed working directly with people his entire life, and is eager to help people get to where they want to be.

    Alex provides independent living services to individuals living with disabilities that include information and referral, Individual and Systemic Advocacy skill development, Peer Counseling, Service Coordination in Skills Training. He also provides other comprehensive services such as Options Counseling, outreach, and short and long-term planning.  Alex has over 12 years of experience in Human Services and related fields.

    Collin is a Disability Resource Specialist, providing services that include: Information & Referrals, Advocacy,  Community Outreach, Peer Counseling, Options Counseling and Independent Living Services. Collin brings a wealth of non-profit experience to our team. Collin previously held a variety of roles in his eight years working at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp started by Paul Newman in 1988 for children with serious and life-threatening illness. He has also worked with the Boston Celtic’s Shamrock Foundation and Fletcher Maynard Elementary school.

    PJ provides independent living services that include information and referral, advocacy & Options counseling. PJ is passionate about collaborating with people with disabilities to access resources and helping them make informed decisions. Previously, PJ was a casework lead & benefits counselor at the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living in Minneapolis. Prior to this, he worked as a Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteer coordinator with the American Red Cross. While at Macalester College, PJ was involved with disabilities research and presented on conceptions of allyship among people with disabilities at the Midwestern Psychological Association. In his free time, PJ enjoys reading, hiking, creative writing, and baking.

As a person with a disability, Hannah has over 10 years of life experience in disability resources and disability rights advocacy.
