All People Accessible Business

| Lisa Orgettas | Advocacy

The Disability Resource Centers' Accessible Business for All People  (ABAP) Project offers businesses guidance to become more accessible and reach a broader customer base.  Businesses that are designated as Accessible Business for All People will be recognized and promoted by the DRC to the disability community and beyond.

How APAB can benefit your business.

People with disabilities and their family and friends account for a population of 161.7 million and constitute over 20% of the US population. This market has over $4.7 trillion in annual disposable income.

People with disabilities and their friends and family expect businesses to be accessible and friendly to people with disabilities.

APAB can help your business grow by assisting in making your business more accessible so that more people can shop, dine and participate in services offered by business, as well as seek employment with your business. Eliminating barriers not only allows people with mobility and sensory disabilities to enter or work at your business, but makes your business more convenient for parents using strollers for their children. Further, improving your interactions with customers and by implementing various accessibility features such as wide isles, will greatly improve the experience for customers living with disabilities, and you will find individuals and family of people with disabilities becoming repeat and loyal customers. Also, by becoming APAB designated, businesses can take advantage of free advertising through the Disability Resource Center via its web page, Facebook as well as through a press public service announcement sent to local media in North Shore Cape Ann Area.
